The Arrival of Satan - Vexing Verses

Horrendous Black Metal from France.
Featuring a Diamatregon member and Saint Vincent of Blacklodge, Vorkreist and Merrimack.
Psychosatanic filth buzzing around your ears like furious flies hellbent on infesting a 76 year olds corpse before anyone discovers the reason she didn't pay that electric bill, was simply due to melting into her bed four months ago.

Muzza Monroe

Not that long ago I was introduced to a couple of bands ,by Namru_Xul, which for this or that reason I feel belong in the same space (not that they are necessarily part of some moronic scene or whatever) … the bands I’m referring to are Those poor bastards ,Sons of perdition and Muzza Monroe & The lushous strings …
So ,what is it that seems to bond these together?
Basically all of the aforementioned bands prove that one can make new from old … a projection of “old” musical formats into the present day if you will… Muzza Monroe’s ethanol soaked world weary musings are just that - rock or/and blues blended together with traditional/folk (and at times the other way around and then more) and lets not forget the string arrangements (which in here are far from being just another superfluous artifice) … all of it ironically in tune with present day reality .

IMPETUOUS RITUAL - Relentless Execution of Ceremonial Excrescence

There’s actually a few resons or/and excuses as to why I couldn’t be bothered to comment on this post in the 1st place … in order to better understand this choice I suggest whoever may be interested to read Nihilus_Xul’s comments on the band PORTAL .Well ,to be honest I might as well have simply copied and pasted that onto here and it would be spot on as to what Impetuous Ritual are all about.
On a purely personal note it’s hard for me to describe my enthusiasm over both Impetuous Ritual and Portal since it has been well over 15 years ,or so, since I last recognized those very peculiar traits/characteristics which instantly identify a Death metal band… I'll be focusing on just 1 today ... that very pronounced, unmistakable, all encompassing “atmosphere” of what is usually filed under ”death”, “darkness”,”fear” etc etc … In this context , how technical the band is, how fast they play their instruments , how tight they are as a unit, how they sound in studio etc etc ,is but a means to an end(achieving THAT “atmosphere”) as opposed to being an end in itself (read all that deep sleep inducing Canadian tech crap, 99% of what is considered Death metal in the US these days, the so-called Gothenburg sound blah blah).
… Some other time depending on chemicals I might toss my 2 cents in on other words such as “Charisma” , “Visuals” and “Attitude” ,all in a Death metal context … as for now remember Nihilus’ very convenient final words “If you have any respect as a reader of this blog, take our word for it and grab this.”

Drastus

Once again, for those who hold an interest for less well known acts, thanks to the NebulaCruiser-Xul search shuttle, I bring you Drastus.
It's little wonder that this man is from France, a place that despite its faults, produces some excellent black metal in recent years.
You can hear that Drastus is a serious fellow, thoery nerds need to avoid this, as it will only boggle them and have them asking questions about moronic things, at the end of the day, we don't need to know what he's exactly playing, this works, it works well and it punches said nerds inside their stomachs, the same kinda pain I'm sure they feel when they wave goodbye to their girlfriends with tears in their eyes and thumbs up their fukking arses.
These releases hold alot of spirit, and you can hear the oil pumping through this machine, dark and aggressive, moody and relentless, we don't need to worry about much else, this is what Black Metal is.
If you don't understand that, go eat your fukking hands and log onto your 'music' forum.
If you enjoy the more sinister side to life and get off on visions of power and planet crushing might, download.

Circle of Ouroborus

What a strange band this is, Xul-interest at a high.
I don't have time to post a description or back story, so I'll leave that up to you.

(V.E.G.A.)

Another discovery for December, well to be honest, I'd heard of VEGA an age ago but never bothered to throw myself at them.
I mentioned this to Nihilus Xul the other day, and upon mentioning album titles such as "Cocaine" and "Alienforest" he rightfully pointed out just what I had been thinking..
"This is Xul material" and it is.
We get a great mix of even greater things here, love Abigor?...Yes Abigor being just one of the bands you can hear within VEGA, the others just don't spring to mind, but upon listening to these albums, you'll get stuck in the same cloud as well.
Cocaine and Alienforest are worth special attention...the latter was recorded first and released second, which means that Cocaine features alot of songs on Alienforest only with a better production. That doesn't mean Alienforest isn't worth your listening time, as within this album there are some of Xul's favourite flavours, namely Cyber elements.
Industrial and Cyber sonic waves feature all over this bands work, electronics are here and used in a special way, you could even forget at times that you're listening to a Metal album on Alienforest, but thankfully, it punches you in the face at just the right moment, and after that you're on edge, looking out for those fists flying your way.
As a whole VEGA are an interesting listen, so if you have a few hours on your hands, listen to these Xul offerings and remember that the musically/lyrical theme only has one element to it "Insanity".
For a band that is fronted by an Italian, this doesn't sound much like anything I've ever heard from Italy, save maybe a few killer Aborym songs, the other two members are Norwegians, but it sounds quite clear that this is one Xulborgs mission, and he eats grim-pasta.
We have....
Cocaine, Alienforest & their latest release Far From You, which should be the last you listen to.

Nekrasov

Australia certainly does well at keeping its gems well hidden.
This is superb stuff, more FUKK YOUR DRUMMER antics.
You can sense some early Blut Aus Nord in this.
The split release has one track by this band, which I think is fukking killer, and so should you...
A true terror.

NDE - Krieg Blut Ehre Asche

This, Xulborgs...is VERY much worth your attention.
This is Black Metal blown apart, and molded back together with Martial Industrial and Noise elements, truly horrible in its purpose, destructive and with the simple goal of tormenting your senses into running out into the street warning the public about what you just heard, and that it should be destroyed, only this can't be killed, it can't be stopped. This is powerful and grim, and surprisingly Belgian.
Xul can't get enough of this right now, it's storming through today into tomorrow, this is a superb direction for BlackMetal to wander into in more depth, problem being that once you walk into this urban wasteland, you may not want to come back. Let's not fukk around, grab this now.
[Note, this is my band of the month for November, as I'm late with this post.]

Lustre

Ambient Black Metal from Sweden.
The new Demo 'Neath The Black Veil' could be said to carry with it some early Manes charm when it comes to the thickness of the sound, slow paced Black Metal hovers around behind synths and steady drums, if you think back to Summoning's Nightshade Forests guitar sound, this is somewhat similar in the part it plays on 'Night Spirit', even some of the synth work can be compared to Summoning in its delivery.
Even though this band has nothing to do with the world beyond our sky, it certainly carries with it an astral atmosphere, thus shall be labled within the Xul genre of Nebula Black Metal.

Aosoth

These are not my words.

" Aosoth's Ashes of Angels is another release upon the prolific Agonia Records, and it follows the band's self-titled debut in 2008. This band is not really one for melody, so if you seek anything aside from the most grinding, filthy black metal, you will not find a safe harbor here. The band crosses their fiery paths with a mix of blasting excess ("Embrace and Enlightenment", "Summon the Dead", "Banished") and slower, mid-paced rhythms ("Communion Through Pain") where they let the hostility breathe. The atmosphere of this record is abrasive and violent, hailing you from the gutters and unwashed crawlspaces of the universe. Often the band will slow down the pace even further, and this produces some of more memorable tracks, like the creepy "Teaching/Erasing" and the Satanic victory of "Cries Out the Heaven". This is also one of the few bands to themselves in "Inner War"...well, not themselves exactly, but Antaeus, also fronted by the vocalist MkM (many former Aosoth members were also in Antaeus). It's one of the stronger tracks on the album.
Ashes of Angels is no revelation, but it's abusive enough to appeal to fans of the harsher side of European black metal. It's noisy and unforgiving, but dynamic enough to remain interesting, in particular through the slower material. "
I just think it's worth a listen considering it's Antaeus related.

Hate Forest - Dead But Dreaming

New compilation bringing to us three unreleased studio tracks plus four live tracks.
It's Hate Forest, it's new material, it's worth downloading.

Urgehal - Ikonoklast

New album by these Norwegian rapists. Much like Goatcraft I am let down by the cover artwork, what ever happened to photos of band members abusing women?
What else to say? More of the same from Urgehal. More of the same from this years Big-Gun releases. Having said that, this is probably top of the pile. I've heard this all before mind you, and you have too most likely. There's only one "Ikonoklast" worth your time this year, and it doesn't use K's.

Neige et Noirceur

FUKK YOUR DRUMMER.

Half an hour EP.
Dark and storming, evil is lurking within, if you can hear it.
If not, then you're in need of a slow beating via six Playstation 3's in a potato sack.

Reverence

Best known for their work with fellow Frenchies Blut Aus Nord.
They carry the Industrial Black Metal tag but on this release there seems to be a lack of that blatant cyber black metal element to it, saying that, it does have an industrial element, but I wouldn't go as far as saying this is Cyber Black Metal.

De Silence Et d Ombre - Aton - Astral Silence

A trio of ambient space maniacs.

Astral Silence gives me the sneaky idea that it could possibly be Wroth of Darkspace/Wintherr of Paysage d'Hiver behind the project, which is a good thing.

Nordvargr - Pyrrhula

She'll be laying there, with his groaning voice in her mind, reliving the moment she made the mistake of leaving her drink unattended whilst she went to the bathroom to take a shit, she remembers nothing after that, just waking up amongst some livestock in a field, her shirt ripped open and chunks of bloody-bread hanging out of her kunt, the scent of his rot up her nose, and the soundscapes of Pyrrhula in her ears, that stupid fukking kunt.

Wormlust

Iceland...You're buried underground, and the sun is blinding you beneath the ice, there's only one thing to do, climb and break out. Promising demo here containing one 12 minute song, which is a shame, because Xul has a sly interest in what this band may be able to produce given a full length. Xul expects good things from Wormlust in the future...but who knows, by then the sound may have changed, the style may have gone backwards, and this will stand out whilst the future passes into memory.

Portal

Now I don't know much about this band, as this is where I've jumped on, but it is fukking ugly.
Here for you, to check out and soak up all the tank-rolling-over-skulls like production.

----------------------------------------------------------
This is death metal, this is where death metal should be today instead of playing guitar hero and worrying more about your piercings flopping around while you headbang than actually putting thought into the music. Completely taking the spirit of what the older generations of death metal (Morbid Angel, Incantation, Immolation etc.) did and updating it for the modern world. It creates a suffocating atmosphere that is too often lost in today's world. That feeling of dread, not knowing what the music is going to do next... A single monotonous pounding on your senses. These are Xul's darlings for October. If you have any respect as a reader of this blog, take our word for it and grab this. Their 3 albums are here for your abuse and consumption. - Edited and Updated by Nihilus_Xul

HAUNT YOURSELF

Slagmaur - Von Rov Shelter

New album by this Norwegian rabble, spread it as much as you can, this band deserves its earnings to diminish.

Tenebrae In Perpetuum - L’Eterno Maligno Silenzio

New album, out at the end of the month, stolen here for you in the Xul Spirit of things, ripping Italians off and showing them the Mafia isn't the only firm of crime.
