Charles Bukowski

Bukowski is one of the forerunners of Xul thought. Someone who cared not for the struggle of man, for he himself was a product of struggle. Rising from a home he despised and a family he felt no love for. He sought the streets and found solace in those lonely avenues and cold benches. Finding warmth and companionship amongst the tired and disenfranchised. Staying warm with a stiff drink and a questionable woman. He gambled and played the chances. If his flavor of the week bitch didn't like it he slapped her down like a dog. He forged his own path with his own degradation. Subjecting himself to endless days of meaningless jobs to fuel his own lust for booze, women and something easier. Bukowski lead by example. If you didn't like it? Tough shit. There's no pity squandered on a lost soul.

Syrgðr Skógr - Walþu
Has some ambient/atmospheric moments to it, as well as sounding like early Nagelfar, which for me is a good thing.
Impressive stuff for a demo for this type of Black Metal. Nothing ground breaking or new here just a solid release.

HAIL CAESAR!
"Beware the beast Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death." - The Sacred Scrolls

TSOL

Metal's kissing cousin, punk rock is often criticized by the metal community for not pushing the envelope enough thematically. The Misfits of course are a classic example of a band that is adored by both communities openly for their use of horror concepts. Then we have a classic release here by TSOL. Dance With Me was one of those rare punk albums that not only used horror imagery, but completely blew the doors off of the punk wagon at the time. Drug addled tales of gutter punk hippies? Political rants about the injustices of Reaganomics? Nah, how about some good old fashioned necrophilia and schizophrenia tales? Ah yeah that's the stuff.
Adored for ages for that ability to shock the fukk out of your teenage pals in earshot, and still give a good goof of a laugh in your advanced burn out age of your 30s... This is a classic of the genre that if not owned, at least needs to be understood. Have fun.

Foudre Noire - The Dark Gods

Shatraug of Horna and a mysterious English member....Carries with it a rather familiar sound(Horna, of course)...This has been likened to Darkspace and such bands, but I can't see it myself.

Hinsidig

The new act of depressive Black Metal hails from Norway and Germany, whose members come from Nyktalgia, Sterbend, Total Hate and Armagedda. Hinsidig mixes the North folk elements along with a great deal of clear back vocals based on the lines of primitive Black Metal, sounding like Ulver from their early era. The inspirational instrumental arrangement and melancholic melody can also be easily related to Nyktalgia and Wolves In The Throne Room(Only not quite so gay)
