G.G.F.H.(Global Genocide Forget Heaven)

Avoiding the lame and boring "essay" on the subject lets just say that it made perfect sense for a substancial amount of people involved in the late 80s/early90s Death-Black underground scene to welcome USA´ G.G.F.H. as one of their own so to speak...
...releases through a Peaceville sub-label?Yes .
Tours with My dying bride who at the time were widely perceived as a Death-Doom outfit...all factual, yes ,
yet the main reason for this unlikely acceptance is much simpler...as opposed to their peers in Skinny Puppy,Coil,Ministry ,etc etc GGFH un/consciously opted for a language which was way closer to that of Death-Black underground:
The Satanic trait was there (LaVeyan sort of individualist/Hedonistic crap but yeah) ;
the "lo-fi" production/performance values;
the stage show even ,which was basically a reflection of the themes explored on the albums(TV sets transmiting random images of snuff, porn ,assorted so called human perversions, religious junk, bloodbuckets, evisceration of stuffed dolls ,you get the picture).
On the other hand their peers looked either tame in comparison or made impenetrable by a much more complex language which was of no relevance whatsoever to what was being answered by/asked of metal ...
(tiresome) here´s hoping that was highly interesting and full of sense ... you have all my cds here(320kbps-I seem to enjoy this bit,as a matter of fact so much that I´m tempted to add that these are all out-of-print now ) and the 2005 SS album which I do not own etc etc

I...dare...YOU!

Some days ago I was having this little casual chat with Namru_Xul which loosely involved a relative´s suicide, drugs, insanity and ... HAWKWIND.
Well,(un)fortunately I do not keep any archives anywhere but Namru quite blatantly
(and to my total disbelief) expresssed the will to post the latter´s entire (Official and Unofficial) discography.
Well , see this as my contribution/introduction (that "rare" bootleg I told you of will be coming soon too as soon as I find it)to your future post ,
or who the hell knows? Maybe we´ll be working together on this one...
As a taste of what´s to come here´s some random compilation cd nicked from HMV or Virgin, not too sure now,in London(center, near Trocadero) at a time when life was as simple as nicking wine bottles from Marks & Spencers(the one almost right opposite to Brixton´s tube station for instance),
selling it to local restaurant owners
for 20 quid - Tenner B bag/Tenner W bag ...
Launder,fold,repeat (locations may vary)...
...but yeah man , I DO dare you!!!!

Dead Can Dance

Ironically & conveniently enough ,the best/most succinct way to describe what DcD means to me/how I perceive it all(whichever way you may wish to put it)coincides with one of their songs´ title - "Anywhere out of the world"- or if that sounds pretentious,pompous,pathetic,_____ or all of the above combined, perhaps 4AD Ivo´s(?!) words may just happen to be less (or more)so : "Dead Can Dance were not obsessed with the past, nor did they provide a sense of nostalgic escape into bygone ages. They severed boundaries and set music free from the fetters of time and place, soaring out of the immediate world".
...Anyways ... fukk what they mean to me or to anybody else for that matter, let´s focus more on what EXACTLY is in here:
1-the COMPLETE official discography (@320kbps) uploaded directly from my juuuuust as complete cd collection(just a 1 + 1/3 exception due to the (in)conveniences of vynil and technical problems respectively)
2-a bootleg series I particularly enjoy (6 over 1 hour long each cds of unreleased songs, demos, rehearsals, lives etc),not necessarily for the "right" reasons but I guess those of you who´ve been with DcD for half as long as we have will enjoy it just as much...Oh yeah, I do not own those so expect the quality you truly deserve)
3- As a starting point I´d either go for their "mid-period" albums("Spleen & Ideal","Within the realm of a dying sun","The serpent´s egg")or simply the "1981-1998 Box set" which to me represents the quintessential DcD item ...
4-"if "3-" is a point there might as well be a "4-" ...
... pretty pointless

Crispin Glover

Now here is one of those head scratching albums that no doubt will have you questioning my sanity as to why I post it. For those of you not in the know, Crispin Glover is an actor that has had tons of interesting performances throughout his career. Definitely one of those kult actors that creates some of the most bizarre yet classic performances to be seen on Sinema. (We hope to post one of his films here soon.) But here for your listening displeasure Xul presents to you his solo album. A pomp romp of twisted pop tunes co-written with the fine folks of Barnes & Barnes (think Fish heads). What you get are a few originals, a couple of covers (including great Charles Manson and Lee Hazelwood covers), as well as some spoken word renditions from his books. Definitely file this as one of those "open minded" Xulborg posts, as it's definitely nowhere near the metal or gloom and doom laden spectrum we tend to focus on. But there is definitely a twisted mind at work here... Which is why Xul adores the man's work.

Darvulia

Here we have Darvulia, a French Black Metal band.

Simple.

Their tone is akin to early Mutiilation, but do not fear...

While they borrow certain twisted circus elements from Mutiilation, I believe they actually do things alot better, for one the production is clear and two, the song writing is alot better, this wasn't created under a wheelchair.

Dark riffs tend to be the thing, along with twisted and demented Mutiilation-lite leads from time to time this can become quite hypnotic, so don't listen to these albums whilst you're crossing the road, you could just end up dead, or in tears.

By no means is this offering you anything new in Black Metal's universe, no, it is simply solid, however if you dislike Mutiilation and other related French acts, you'll more than likely spit at this, in fact, you'll probably hate this if you're not a fan of French BM in general, as it does stink of the stuff.

Igra Staklenih Perli

Ah, just look at that album cover. Brings me back to the days of my youth spent scowling about on Nibiru 9. Perched upon a large mushroom while injecting myself to glory, watching intergalactic kriegwhales drift through the clouds of methyl alcohol. What joy it was to hear their mournful cry while feasting upon kebabs my enslaved pet Muslim had brought me. Good ol' what's his name, I knew him well. But that's enough reminiscing. Before you is a classic of psychedelic prog. 1979 debut from these Yugoslav space rockers. If that cover isn't enough to make you want to hear this dark masterpiece, you need to mainline heroin until you cease breathing. Do so regardless, as it will enhance your listening pleasure ten fold.
