yet the main reason for this unlikely acceptance is much simpler...as opposed to their peers in Skinny Puppy,Coil,Ministry ,etc etc GGFH un/consciously opted for a language which was way closer to that of Death-Black underground:

The Satanic trait was there (LaVeyan sort of individualist/Hedonistic crap but yeah) ;

the "lo-fi" production/performance values;

the stage show even ,which was basically a reflection of the themes explored on the albums(TV sets transmiting random images of snuff,porn ,assorted so called human perversions,religious junk,bloodbuckets,evisceration of stuffed dolls ,you get the picture).

On the other hand their peers looked either tame in comparison or made impenetrable by a much more complex language which was of no relevance whatsoever to what was being answered by/asked of metal ...

(tiresome) here´s hoping that was highly interesting and full of sense ... you have all my cds here(320kbps-I seem to enjoy this bit,as a matter of fact so much that I´m tempted to add that these are all out-of-print now ) and the 2005 SS album which I do not own etc etc

Lengthy synth laden ambient funeral doom from Belgium.

I started listening to this album and was struck by "oh no, more funeral doom"...
Then the synth kicked in...and man it hit me. No doubt if it wasn't for the synth this wouldn't be as potent, but fukk the synth adds such a different dimension to what's on offer, that it creates a dark passage way that you can't help but follow down, deeper and deeper.
Even for the non-believer in this method of music, abit like myself to a degree, this is worth a shot.

Ras Algethi

One of the most passionate doom albums to ever appear. This is right up there with Monumentum as far as its ability to portray that warmth of their region in the sound...
Warmth in doom? Yes... Not all is snow covered. Ras Algethi's charm is their ability to convey their world to you. The feeling of sitting in a public square and watching the people walk around in their daily lives as you feel completely detached from your human existence. Aliens, strangers... just insects in their hive. Your own existence being not that of a human being, but of a watcher of the World. The sight of the children laughing in the shadow of a ruined church.. The open market fruit sellers throwing away the rejections of their crop. The whores walking the street to lure in the tourists... The drunkards begging for money to get them through just one more night of existence. All the while you are completely detached from this existence, just watching the simple day unfold like its own breathing work of art. All in shades of gray from a sun that sets to send them all home to their lives, leaving the square an empty and beautiful place once the ugliness of life is removed from it. The ethereal plane is a release, and Ras Algethi touched it...

One of the overlooked doom bands in a rich tradition of the style. If you remember Unholy they definitely share kinship. An almost suffocating presence to that elegance of their depression. Ambience that builds with the reverberation coming and going as needed.. Creating the dynamics and tension needed to balance the thicker tones. Doom with a black metal specter lurking in the background for sure... Very overlooked by the metal community and it's a shame for it. These guys have something interesting going on.

Pagan Doom... such an amusing concept that unfortunately rarely ends in the actual demise of pagan thinwimps. The truly unfortunate part is that the adding of "pagan" to any genre of metal tends to result in the same predictable nonsense. A few acoustic guitar and pan flute interludes and some moron whining on about trees being burned while sounding like the Swedish Chef. You call that something your "ancient strong willed ancestors" would be proud of? One shot of that nonsense and they'd likely have smashed themselves in their heads with their battle hammers and axes just to make sure you never came out of the genetic pipeline. Yet here we are with a band that somehow managed to actually have a "pagan" influence and do something interesting with it.. Gods Tower came and went with a couple of albums and then disappeared. Like so many tribes of the past. Fantastic stuff with a vocalist sounding something akin to a drunken karaoke singer. (i.e. authentic). Plus an unusual lead guitar tone that really did feel like something pulled from an older time. Definitely an older sounding band that definitely could have been only produced from Eastern Europe (Belarus).
